Will you read THIS first?
What’s the very first thing you do in the morning?
I know—it sounds great on paper to say: “Oh, I open my Bible, focus my thoughts on my great God for whom all things are possible, and pray for 15 minutes.”
But who really does that—really?
I’ve told you before that I like to roll out of bed in the morning and drop to my knees right beside it to pray: “God, You are so great and I am so small—and that’s a good thing,” to remind myself of God’s power and possibilities for the day.
And don’t worry—I don’t manage to do that every single day either. Some mornings I think, “Oh no, I’m still so tired and completely wiped out,” and I stay right where I am and pray:“Father, today I’m going down on my knees INTERNALLY—but You are still my great God.”
Yes, yes—we humans, the moment something gets uncomfortable (like kneeling) or costs us something, we get very creative, haha. 😉
Isn’t it interesting how much easier it is to reach straight for our phone or a cup of coffee? But have you ever thought about the fact that with that “quick grab,” you might also be letting worries, burdens, and fears into your life before you’ve allowed hope, trust, and love into your heart?
This is where our powerful verse for the year comes in:
“Test everything; hold fast what is good.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21, ESV)
So—is it GOOD to focus first on everything that’s happening in the world? No. Is it GOOD to focus first on what is heavenly? YES!
Before you look at what’s happening in the world, remember the One who is still in control of it all!
What decision will you make to begin living this out INTENTIONALLY, starting tomorrow?
You are a miracle!
