But we have an appointment, don’t we?
Have you noticed how almost everything these days runs on a schedule? As I’m writing this, I’m waiting for a dear friend. We planned this time together well in advance just to finally sit down and catch up.
I even need an appointment to see a friend—otherwise it just doesn’t happen. Isn’t that a bit crazy? And let’s not even start with hairdresser or dentist appointments, which we still sometimes reschedule at the last minute.
When kids start soccer practice or music lessons, everything else has to be planned around it. And then there’s work… Another “appointment” we sometimes enjoy and sometimes don’t. But we still show up.
You’re not going to wake up and say, “Not today, I’ll just sleep in.” You go because you know you’ll be rewarded—you’ll get paid.
So why is it so hard for us to schedule a daily appointment with God? Actually, not with God, but for God. Because the amazing truth is this: God always has time for you—but we often don’t make time for Him. Maybe because we don’t plan it?
What do you think—how different would our lives look if we planned everything around our prayer time, as we do with something like soccer practice, instead of the other way around? Imagine how richly we would be rewarded, especially since God promises it:
That’s one reason the Bible says: “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” (Matthew 6:6 NIV)
Do you know what “He will reward you” means? God wants to answer your prayers. Whatever is on your heart, when you take time to talk to Him, He longs to respond.
Because He loves you. Deeply. Infinitely.
When your day begins with prayer, your life will change—without a doubt.
You are a miracle!
