NOW is the PERFECT time for this

Think back with me to a season in life that’s a bit more “relaxed,” friend?
For example, I love January when all the pressure is gone. Things are a bit quieter, more peaceful. But we usually don’t give much thought to what would actually be wise to do in this time of peace, do we?
Under pressure, we know what to do. When we’re faced with deadlines, oh, we work! When we’re surrounded by pressure, stress, and troubles, we pray! π
But what’s wise to do in calm times? Have you ever thought about that, friend? π€
We find the answer in the Old Testament, and this passage really spoke to me. I’ll use the New Life Translation today, but you can read this passage anywhere:
“He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace.” (2 Chronicles 14:6 NIV)
Here we read about King Asa, who lived in a way that pleased God, and in return, God gave him peace. There was peace in the land. No wars, no stress. Asa could have just flown off on vacation and enjoyed himself. βΊοΈ
But he used the peace to prepare for the storms ahead!
He built fortresses to get ready for what’s coming! What can we learn from this? Use the quiet time to prepare yourself for the coming storms!
How exactly did Asa do this? By practically doing what needed to be done—he built fortresses. He also deepened his relationship with God during this “good time” and stayed in prayer. And sure enough, in the very same chapter, it happened! King Asa was attacked! But he was ready! Not only because of the fortresses he had built, but because his trust in God was intact. So, he prayed:
“Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you … “ (2 Chronicles 14:10-11 NIV). And: “The Lord struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah.” (2 Chronicles 14:12 NIV) The Lord brought them victory!
Be wise enough to build fortresses in your life during calm times—continue to trust in God—and nothing will shake you in the storms of life!
You are a miracle!
