Welcome back to A Miracle Every Day!

I am writing this message in a coffee shop and bakery in downtown Bellingham, Washington. As I sit here, I can smell fresh-baked goods coming from the bakery, the fragrance of freshly brewed coffee, and the scent of rain every time the door opens and carries that fresh air in from the outside. It is a feast for my nose!

Sitting here, wrapped in these comforting smells, I am thinking of the words of Ephesians 5:1-2:

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians 5:1-2, NIV

These powerful words truly encapsulate the heart behind our thoughts this week. God has called each of us to follow His example in pouring out our lives so that His love can be spread around the world.

The truth is, there is an equal need all over the world, but there isn’t equal access! Will you join us in opening the door of opportunity so that EVERYONE can hear the inspiration of Jesus through A Miracle Every Day!

The Bible is full of this amazing concept. I Corinthians 11:23 and following says, “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’” (I Corinthians 11:23, NIV

Did you miss it? “What I received from the Lord, I passed on.” Wow!!! This is the same heart as “Freely you have received; freely give!” (Matthew 10:7-8, NIV

As I wrap this week together and pray for your hearts to join us in this powerful work, I want to share with you what just happened a few feet away from me! True story!

A family came in and ordered coffee, pastries, and chocolate milk for their son (I’d guess he is about four years old). They sat down beside me and started enjoying the blessing of good food and drink. At the same time, a homeless man came in and asked for a single cup of cold water. He sat near us and, after a deep sigh, began to sip his water.

Without being prompted by his parents, the little boy broke his scone in half and went and placed it directly in front of the man who didn’t have enough to buy his own. That sacrificial act brought tears to the homeless man’s eyes, more tears to this pastor’s eyes, and a moment of deep pride as the parents then went and blessed the man with a gift card to pay for his entire lunch… and some extra!

friend, that is the heart of Jesus, and we can participate in the same way, partnering with the giving heart of our Savior!

Let’s pray. Jesus, help us to pay it forward. May your blessing prompt us to bless others. Thank you for your miracles and may we share them every day, in every way that we can! I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Never forget my friend,

You are a miracle!
