Stick with your plate 🍟😉

Publication date Aug 15, 2025

I had been so looking forward to that evening!

I was invited out to dinner with friends at a really great restaurant in Switzerland, and I had made up my mind to order something healthy.

So my delicious fish and some amazing sides arrived. I already had my fork in hand when the waitress suddenly placed a big bowl of those perfectly thin, crispy fries in the middle of the table and said, “For anyone who wants some.” 🍟

Faster than anyone else at the table, I set my fork down, and before I even touched my plate of fish, half that bowl of fries was already gone. So much for “Tonight I’m eating healthy.” 🤣

Would you have caved too? Or would you have stuck to your decision?

Yes, I wanted to eat healthy, but not at any cost. And at that moment, it was totally fine. After all, it was just food.

But isn’t it often the same with our faith?

We say, “I want to believe.” But—not at any cost…

When God challenges us with illness, setbacks, or tough questions, we sometimes reach—like so many others—for that “unhealthy bowl” sitting in the middle of the table. And that bowl holds thoughts like: “Why would God allow this? If He were really good, this wouldn’t be happening to me.”

Or we grab from the other bowl—just like people who don’t know God. We take from the one filled with toxic words: jealousy, envy, and gossip. “Did you see what she did? Wow, she’s so clueless!”

You can make a clear and intentional choice to go for the “healthy plate”—to choose faith—but it only works if you stick with it even when something tempting gets placed right in front of you.

Always remember 1 Corinthians 10:13: “But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13, NIV)

You make the decision to believe. God gives you the strength to live it out.

Make the right choice—because it really, really matters.

You are a miracle!
