That’s a thousand possibilities!

Let’s stick with David again today—and the “situation” with his oldest brother, as we’ll call it. Yesterday we saw how David didn’t let himself get discouraged when his brother insulted him… but there’s even more to the story.

“‘What are you doing around here anyway?’ he demanded. ‘What about those sheep you're supposed to be taking care of?’” (1 Samuel 17:28 NLT) 😤  

Ah, friend, do you see what I see here? An insecure person would hear a comment like that, shrink back, and think, “He’s right. I should just go back and do my real job. I’m not even worthy of bringing bread to my brothers who are out here fighting a real battle.”

But a confident person—someone who knows who they are (see yesterday’s message) will hear the exact same words and respond totally differently: “Oh, I must make you nervous… because you know who I am and who I belong to. The fact that you emphasized ‘few’—‘who’s watching those few sheep’—just shows me you’re trying to make everything I do seem small and insignificant.”

But when God has a plan, no one can stop it. 🤩 He says: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV) 

I love how it’s translated in the Good News Translation: “I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.” (Jeremiah 29:11 GNT)   

And here’s my personal translation, just for you, *

friend, so you really get it: My plan for you, friend, is set in stone. I want to bring you, friend, joy—not pain. I am determined to give you, friend, a thriving future. I, the Lord, say this because I love you. ❤️

friend, I’ve been there too. I was in a toxic relationship where I kept hearing things like:“Oh Déborah, give it a rest with your performances. For the few people you’re reaching… It’s just not worth it.”

If I had listened to that lie, those “few people” would’ve never become the “few thousand” I now get to speak to every single day through A Miracle Every Day! See how important it is not to believe those lies?

Because a thousand possibilities always start with just a few small things.
