Just wonderful, but yes so hard. I sometimes have the true impression that I forgive, but then, at a moment I do not expect, bitterness may appear again. I just feel hypocrite, I feel my forgiveness was not deeply given. Then, again I Ask Jésus to help me to truly forgive my husband for example. And this situation may happen again and again..

That’s why Jesus told Peter that we must forgive a person 7 times 70. It’s a process, not “one and done”. It may take 490 times. It’s just important to be persistent. It will happen eventually if you continue to forgive every time the hurt rears its ugly head. Ask Jesus to help you.

Elina, I read advice that helped me when bitterness returned and I replayed the offense in my mind after I forgave. The advice was to remember that I forgave. It’s not that my forgiveness wasn’t genuine enough, it was just hard to let go. When tempted to go back to bitterness, and even if I go far down that path, if I see it, I can say, “Oh, wait, I already forgave. That is what’s true.” I can agree with God that returning to bitterness is wrong, and grab hold of Jesus’ cloak as I get back in the right direction of “whatever is true, whatever is noble….”
I hope that helps. It lifted a burden from me that made me think I wasn’t capable of forgiving or being genuine. I really can’t forgive, but am so relieved the power is God’s, not mine.

Forgiving is difficult but the cross reminds me that my pain is nothing compared to what Jesus endured for me. He can. He will set us free. He has paid our penalty and wants to see us do the same, setting others hearts aflame with our forgiveness. Peace be with us all as we let it all go in Jesus name. Amen.

I received an email from you that has really got me thinking , thinking in a different way.. I am one of those people that holds a grudge. Looking back on my life , the only one that suffered is me. They all have wonderful lives and I live in my car now. I Thank You for sending this.
