Bury this guilt and finally forgive yourself!

Do you ever blame yourself? Constantly dwell on your mistakes? The devil’s goal is to continually accuse us. He is called the accuser of the brethren. The one who accuses day and night.

“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” (the Bible, Revelation 12:10)

This scheme of the enemy is not God’s plan for us! It is written, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (the Bible, I John 1:9)

Bury this guilt and finally forgive yourself!

If you need to forgive yourself but don’t know where to start, I encourage you to take a step by doing the following four things:

  1. Write a letter to God, entrusting Him with everything that’s tormenting you. If you’d like, listen to this song by “For KING & COUNTRY.” It’s a beautiful prayer for forgiveness. Then, read the Scriptures that promise forgiveness to those who confess their sins to God. (Read Isaiah 43:25, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Proverbs 28:13)
  2. Faithfully count God’s blessings and benefits. (Read Psalm 103:2)
  3. Go forward one step at a time. Each day, simply ask God to heal your heart a bit more.
  4. Believe that each day is a new day, full of hope and promises. Indeed, God’s mercies are new every morning! (Read Lamentations 3:22-23)

If you’d like, you can pray with me…“Lord, You see my faults [list what you blame yourself for], and yet, You continue to love me. You desire to free me from the weight of my mistakes, my guilt…thank You! I ask You to forgive me for my failures and sins. And I choose to forgive myself because You have forgiven me! Thank You for Your peace that’s permeating my heart right now. In the powerful name of Jesus, amen!”

My friend, God wants you to live free from all guilt and experience forgiveness in every dimension. Go in His peace today!

I encourage you to listen to this song by For KING & COUNTRY.

Oh, oh God forgive us
A slave to our uncertainty
Help us with our unbelief
Oh, oh God forgive us

P.S. Today’s text is inspired by a book I highly recommend called How Can I Possibly Forgive? by Sara Horn. I believe that reading it will bless your life!
