Jesus said, “‘I am the vine, you are the branches.’” (the Bible, John 15:5) He is the vine…this means that everything comes from Him. Everything that could possibly bring life to the branch comes from the vine. Just as the branch can’t bear fruit by itself, you cannot either…if you’re not attached to Jesus!
Being attached to Jesus means…
- Keeping your thoughts fixed on Him,
- Keeping your heart open to His presence,
- And keeping your actions in alignment with His will.
The branch in itself does not have life. It’s a piece of dead wood that draws its vitality directly from the vine. And so it’s only when it’s attached to the vine that it can produce fruit, the grape. A sweet, magnificent fruit of various colors that can then be made into juice or wine.
The Bible says that we have everything that we need in Christ Jesus. In Him, we live and move and have our being. And through Him, we’re empowered to do mighty feats, incredible things for God, and to carry abundant fruit for His glory alone!
Today, know that without Him, you can do nothing. As a branch, your job is simply to stay firmly attached to the vine… to Jesus!
Thank you for that encouraging word and I so needed today. At times we are surrounded by a lot of noise and sometimes we have to take time out to listen for the whisper. Because his voice is not in the storm, it is not in the earthquake, it is not in the fire. All we have to do it sit still and listen. Listen for his voice. Neither going to the left or to the right, what to say on the path of righteousness. We have to be strong and of good courage and bear was all things as Jesus. All things for us. We have to stay connected to the Vine, but we find it hard to and I’ll busy lives. Thanks again for that encouraging word reminding me that I have to stay close to the Vine. God bless
