One of the Jesus.net missionaries shared this story once with the team… On her way home in the car, she came across a man on the road carrying several huge bags. He was moving forward slowly, one small step at a time, because of his heavy load. She stopped to ask him if he’d like a ride, and over the course of their discussion, she learned that he was a minister on his way to visit a church member. What a beautiful divine connection!
We’re often like this man: weighed down and weary. Although we belong to Christ, sometimes we feel life’s pressures, as if we’re going to collapse under the weight of the things we have to do… Yet, Jesus clearly invites us, saying, “‘Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’” (the Bible, Matthew 11:28)
So, why do we feel the weight of the load sometimes? Let’s look at the following verses: “‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.’” (Matthew 11:29-30)
- Laying down our burdens is the first step.
- The second is learning from Him, our gentle Master.
I encourage you to spend time reading the Word of God. Let yourself be taught and shaped by it. Why? Because it’s the Word that illuminates, transforms, and liberates!
Jesus, the Word made flesh, will clearly show you what you should be carrying and what you shouldn’t be. And the former will not crush you. Jesus will reveal what He expects of you and give you the peace and strength to do it.
Thankyou for this awesome ministry , as these scriptures you share plus the stories with them really bless me and minister to me and teach me and comfort me. These past 2 wks have been the most heartbreaking and saddest time in my life as I just lost my Mom then.
