Do you sometimes feel like you’re missing the mark?

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I really feel like I don’t meet the “requirements” of what a disciple of Jesus should be. Some days, I feel useless, especially if I start comparing myself to so and so a pastor who received a special anointing to practice such and such a ministry.

Have you ever noticed that Jesus’ disciples too, strangely enough, sometimes “missed the mark”?

Many times, they fought about who was the “greatest.” They even all fell asleep when Jesus, knowing that He would soon die, most needed their support and prayers. Peter denied Jesus three times…yet, Jesus entrusted him with the care of His Church.

A disciple is never perfect, humanly speaking.

God was not content to record just the disciples’ moments of glory and spirituality in the Gospels…He revealed their failures as well so that we could say, 2,000 years later, “Me too! I failed too! I was prideful as well! But I too am loved, accepted, and approved by my Heavenly Father.”

The good news is that there’s nothing that could separate us from His love. The Bible says…

“(…) having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.” (see John 13:1, NKJV)

Don’t lose hope today. In the midst of all our imperfections, God chooses to trust us all the same. It’s in our weakness in particular that He reveals Himself.

I pray this truth blesses and comforts you today!

Thanks for this devotion. It was speaking to me directly. I have so many flaws that I was feeling like I am really not good enough and this just set me straight. Thanks. I feel so encouraged.

Maybe our imperfections also our trouble are just reminders to call on our Heavenly Father. However, call on Him everyday, even in the good times, He loves to talk with His children at all times.
