Do you sometimes feel like you’re missing the mark?

I don’t know if you’re like me, but sometimes I really feel like I don’t meet the “requirements” of what a disciple of Jesus should be. Some days, I feel useless, especially if I start comparing myself to so or so a pastor who received a special anointing to practice such or such a ministry.

Have you ever noticed that Jesus’s disciples too, strangely enough, sometimes “missed the mark”?

Many times, they fought about who was the “greatest.” They even all fell asleep when Jesus, knowing that He would soon die, needed their support and prayers. Peter denied Jesus three times… yet, Jesus trusted him with the care of His Church.

A disciple is never perfect, humanly speaking.

God was not content to just record Jesus’s disciples’ moments of glory and spirituality in the gospels… He also revealed their failures so that 2,000 years later, we could say, “Me too! I failed too! I was prideful too! But I too am loved, accepted, and approved by my Heavenly Father.”

The good news is that there’s nothing that could separate us from His love. The Bible says…

“(…) having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.” (see John 13:1)

Don’t lose hope today. In the midst of all our imperfections, God chooses to trust us all the same. It’s in our weakness especially that He reveals Himself.
