Does your life look like a messy garden?

We’re continuing our series based on the movie The Shack (based on the bestselling book by Paul Young). The movie tells the story of Mack, a man who lost his daughter through tragic circumstances and responded to a mysterious invitation from God. In one scene, Sarah Yu, who represents the person of the Holy Spirit, invites Mack to work with her in the garden to prepare the earth for new growth. When Mack sees this huge garden, filled with flowers and plants of all kinds, he calls it a “mess.” However, Sarah Yu reveals to him that this garden…is him.

I particularly like this part of the film. It’s true that each of us goes through (or will go through) seasons where everything seems in disarray, messy, disorganized. Yet, just like in this scene, when this happens, the Holy Spirit accompanies us, helping us to see more clearly and put things back in order.

The Bible says, “‘But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.’” (John 14:26, NLT)

Do you feel that your life is like this garden right now…a bit of a mess? Yet you too are in process, beautiful and bursting with potential. God has extraordinary plans for your life. His Spirit is the One who comforts you, lifts you up, and restores you.
