For some, it’s absolutely vital that others approve of their work or that their accomplishments be recognized. When this need becomes too high of a priority, or it becomes our reason for living, we’re placing our identities in what we do rather than in who we are.

What about you? Where does your identity lie?

In what you do? In what you’ve accomplished up until this point? Or rather… in who you are?

What you do is temporary, but who you are is eternal—you are God’s child, loved for the person you are.

It’s upon this truth that you ought to construct your life and build your identity.

All the rest may collapse. But if your identity is founded in Christ, then you will not!

You are and will forever be His child, no matter what happens!

    I was raised in a performance driven family, and my worth and approval centered always on what I did and what I could do for others. I never truly felt loved for who I am or how God uniquely made me. The Lord is reshaping my identity and is showing me my approval come from being His child, not from man. This song was awesome!
