Is God truly good?

Have you ever wondered, “What am I doing here?”

If you don’t understand the purpose of your existence, I’d like to help you today.

Some people (wrongly) think that the only way to accomplish God’s plan is…

• To suffer,
• To do what we hate the most,
• To be where we don’t want to be.

It’s what I call the “martyr syndrome.” However, God had so much joy in creating you that it’s impossible for Him to frustrate you unnecessarily.

Here are some of the lyrics from Chris Tomlin’s “Good Good Father,” one of my favorite songs: “You’re a good good Father…And I’m loved by You…I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide. But I know we’re all searching for answers only You provide. ‘Cause You know just what we need before we say a word…You are perfect in all of Your ways.”

There are times when God sends you on difficult and uncomfortable missions…But God is never unreasonable. His plan for you is perfect. He is perfect in all of His ways! The apostle James tells us that “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” (read the Bible, James 1:17, NLT)

When you pray to do God’s perfect plan:

• Accept the fact that God is perfectly good.
• Trust Him in everything.

God’s goodness is fundamental to accepting His plan! Everything God wants to accomplish in you, with you, and through you, will bring forth His image in you. Do you see who God is? And the image that He wants to convey through your life? Because who God is for you is what will manifest through you.

The expression of His goodness is seen not only in everything you’ve received from God, but also in everything you haven’t received from Him. So tell Him, “You are good to me. You are perfect in all of Your ways to me.” God’s plan for you begins as you accept His goodness!
