I’ve found a treasure…

A few years ago, whenever I thought of it, I started asking for wisdom. It’s certainly not the trendy word of the current day and age, but maybe that’s why it felt like an undiscovered treasure to me, one that everyone could have access to. I’ve noticed since then that it’s made a huge difference in my life, day in and day out. That’s why I’m so eager to share today’s message with you!

I have always been strongly impressed with King Solomon, son of David. “Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David…” (1 Kings 3:3, NIV). To me, this scripture means he was humble in spite of his status as king and didn’t think himself wise.

How did this man who had everything—and he really did—respond to the Lord’s question, “…’Ask for whatever you want Me to give you.‘” (1 Kings 3:5, NIV)? Solomon’s response was surprising. He didn’t want more wealth, nor did he ask for health. His answer is unique to me to this day: “‘…Give Your servant a discerning heart to govern Your people and to distinguish between right and wrong.‘” (1 Kings 3:9, NIV) Think about it. That means there could be nothing more valuable than making right decisions.

We are experts at putting off decisions or making them without asking God (as if that could work). Yet, at that moment, Solomon invited God into every decision he would make. Wow!

“He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will find good.” (Proverbs 19:8, NKJV)

Solomon’s response came from an abundance—an abundance of assurance that God is faithful and that He’s trustworthy. If you also live from the fullness of that assurance, you, too, will long for wisdom!

Maybe you’ve never really thought about it, but believe me, asking for wisdom won’t just change your world…it will change your whole environment because wisdom is visible!

Do you want to ask God for wisdom? It will change your life.

You are a miracle!

Yes, I do. Thanks. Help me out with this: If King Solomon was given wisdom ( we are sometimes told the wisest man) why did he engage himself in so many vain acts… wives, concubines…?

Thank you, Deborah, I have always been impressed with King Solomon and his request for “wisdom”, and I am trying to include this request for myself into my daily prays. Today is day 17 of the 21 Days of Prayer Study, through the “Jesus.net” website. This study has helped me hear God and be more in touch with His WISDOM!!! Thank all of you who do/have done so much in helping me establish and grow my relationship with GOD…
