Jesus, obedient unto the cross ✝️

Are you amazed, as I am, by Jesus’ extraordinary character? Obeying His Father in every way during His life and ministry, Jesus did not fail in anything at the end of His mission. He was once again obedient. The Bible makes it clear, in Philippians 2:8, that Jesus obeyed to the end, even until His death on the cross.

Yesterday, we saw that Jesus cried out in an agonized voice as He was dying on the cross. Yet, just before His arrest, despite His anguish and sorrow, He confirmed to His Father that He would perfectly complete His mission:

“…‘O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.’” (Read Matthew 26:42, NKJV) 

Yes, Jesus is firmly determined to see it through to the end, no matter the cost. Jesus agreed to sacrifice His life to save yours. Did you know that your Savior endured three types of death?

• Death to Himself (He renounced Himself, His will)
• Physical death (He gave up His spirit)
• Spiritual death (He was separated from God’s presence because of sin)

Jesus obeyed His Father in every way, in order to do His will and nothing but His will.

Everything doesn’t always go as planned in our lives…When it seems like God has turned His back to you and heaven is closed to your cry, will you get discouraged and drop everything in the process? Or, as this song sung by Jesus Culture says, will you love God, go where He goes, say what He says, surrender to the Father?

I invite you to pray with me now…“Father, You perfectly know the situation I’m going through, and I thank You for staying beside me and going through it with me. I ask You to forgive me when doubt creeps in, when I may feel like You’ve abandoned me. Even if everything doesn’t go according to my plans, it’s Your will that I want to do, not my own. Whatever the cost, I want to follow You. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.”
