Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

The city of Jerusalem…just thinking about walking her streets makes my heart race. The sights, sounds, and smells of Jerusalem are unlike any other place in the world. It’s as if every sense you have is on full alert, an eager expectation for what is about to happen. From praying at the Western Wall among the devout Jews, to the hustle and bustle of the Arab quarter, to the quieter Christian quarter….Jerusalem never disappoints. It’s always a true lady, full of mystery and beauty.

I often wondered why God told us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper.” (see the Bible, Psalm 122:6, NLT)‬‬ I assumed it was probably linked to all of the news stories and constant reports of turmoil in the media. However, He has shown me it’s so much more than that. Our story is linked to its story.

“O Jerusalem, I have posted watchmen on your walls; they will pray day and night, continually. Take no rest, all you who pray to the Lord. Give the Lord no rest until he completes his work, until he makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth.” ‭‭(see the Bible, Isaiah‬ ‭62:6-7,‬ ‭NLT)

A prayer for Jerusalem is a prayer for the world, for the Church, for you. It’s more than just peace…it’s about everyone finding what the Jews have been looking for. The ONE THING that actually was born into their midst, though many didn’t see Him or recognize who He was. They’re still looking to this day…frantically looking. Oh Jerusalem, peace is not a state of being you long for…it’s a person! You yearn for peace in your spirit. You long for Jesus…He is the Prince of Peace!

May this worship song, “Shalom Jerusalem” by Paul Wilbur, be a blessing to you as you begin to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Yeshua IS the peace of Jerusalem!

Let’s pray together…“Lord, I ask You today for the peace of Jerusalem. May You miraculously unveil the eyes of the people to see You, the Prince of Peace. I pray all, Jew and Arab, will come into personal relationship with You. May all searching end as You fill them with complete love and peace! In Jesus’s name, amen.”
