Today, I’d like to do something a little different, off the beaten path, and pray. Simply pray and ask the Lord to strengthen us, walk alongside us, and guide us.
Because the Word of God is clear when it says, “‘Without Me you can do nothing.’” (John 15:5) This is why prayer is so important when it comes to growing in the Lord.
I invite you to pray with me…
“Lord, You are the vine, the source of my life and all my energy. Without You, I’m nothing and can do nothing. Help me by Your Holy Spirit to remain firmly attached to You.
Your thoughts are so much higher than mine, and sometimes I don’t truly know what it means to “abide in You.” But by faith, I want to continue to seek You with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my strength.
I want to live for You. Live a life that bears fruit, good fruit for my family, my friends, my neighbors, my coworkers, and everyone I come into contact with.
Sometimes, I exhaust myself trying to do things in my own strength and by my own means. Jesus, keep me close to You! I know that without You, I can do nothing. I don’t want to exhaust myself…I want to live in a place of rest, the rest of Your victory. With all my being, I want to be a vessel of blessing for Your glory. Today, I choose to draw my strength from You and You alone.
I love You, Jesus, my Lord!”
I pray this classic worship song, “Draw Me Close to You,” will be an encouragement to you today as you rest in Him.
The prayer today was inspired by the verse that says, “‘I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.’” (John 15:5)

There is no way that you could have known that this is exactly what I wanted to say. I know that this Prayer was Holy Spirit inspired. As my tears flowed I could only say thank you Jesus for this message today July 31 2018. You know what I need when I need it.

In a small little church on the north side of town in 1986, this gal, then 30, was seeking Jesus to deliver her from the pain and anguish of drug addiction and abuse. I stood in that church, raised my arms to Jesus, and sang this song, and He took me in to sup with Him and restored my being. He delivered me, taught me, and walked with me daily. Now 32 years later, I listen to this song and am so very thankful for the love that captured my heart, never let me go, and picked me up when I was down and continues to love on me as we journey on. He is my hope, my Strength, my Faithful Love!
