She forgave her brother’s murderers…

When we hear the word “miracle,” physical healings often come to mind. People whose limbs begin to work again, even people who are raised from the dead.

But, if I dare say, miracles have many other facets as well…they can be miracles of the heart, too! Powerful moments of inner healing, salvation, rededication to Jesus…and also forgiveness.

Forgiveness is a miracle. Bravo to one “A Miracle Every Day” reader…I praise the Lord for what He did in her heart. Here’s her very short but very powerful testimony: “I have come to terms with my brother’s murder…and forgiven his killers, even if I don’t know them.”

How does someone forgive the unforgivable? Humanly speaking, I think it’s extremely difficult. But with God, it’s possible! How?

  1. Forgiveness is an act of love. Romans 5:5 says, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” (the Bible, NKJV) By His Spirit, God releases true love in our hearts and makes us able to forgive.
  2. Forgiveness is an act of obedience. We read in Colossians 3:13, “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.” Giving up the desire for revenge and blessing our enemies is an act of obedience to God. It’s doing what He asks, even if it costs us.

If you find yourself facing the unforgivable today, I’d like to pray for you…“Lord, You see this complicated situation my brother, my sister, is facing. It’s humanly very difficult for him/her to forgive. But I believe that by Your Spirit, it is possible! Breathe over his/her life, Holy Spirit…by Your power and love poured out in his/her heart, my friend can forgive his/her enemies, even right now. In Jesus’ name, amen!”

Thank you God for helping me to forgive all who are hurting or have hurt me, although it is difficult. I want to be forgiven, so I am praying for faith, because it’s been a long time that I’ve been hurt. Forgive me where I’ve erred, in Jesus name.
