Show me truth and righteousness

What God desires is that you fully know the path that leads you to abundant life. He reveals to you the foundations of a fulfilled, thriving life in Him in His Word:

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness” (Read Ephesians 6:14, NKJV).

God has given us His Word, the Bible, as a guide for our lives. Moreover, He clearly affirms that “by his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life…” (Read 2 Peter 1:3, NLT) In other words, He gave us an effective, incredible GPS (God’s Powerful Sight)!

His role is to show us how to walk in truth, according to His will. Ours is to pray, asking Him to grant us this grace as we immerse ourselves in His Word. When you ask God:

• For His truth, you’re expressing the need and desire to grow in commitment to God. Jesus tells us that He is the way, the truth, and the life. (Read John 14:6) Asking God to grant us more of Himself is the wisest prayer that we could ever pray.

• For His righteousness, you’re beseeching God for discernment and wisdom in unclear situations. Some days, when life seems like a long, lazy river, we forget that we’ve committed to live in personal relationship with Jesus. We desperately need God to remind us of the foundations of righteous, godly living because our memories are short. When we pray for righteousness, we ask God to help us grow to be more and more like Him.

God is inviting you to put on His armor, and the first two pieces are, in fact, truth and righteousness. (Read Ephesians 6:10-18) 

Let’s pray together right now…“Father, I recognize that I’m easily troubled by circumstances, influenced by different opinions. I desperately need to know how to live according to Your will and honor our covenant relationship. Show me Your truth and righteousness. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
