True rest is letting God do the “doing”…

Jesus says in His Word, ““Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”” (see Matthew 11:28-29, NLT)

Our God is an infinitely generous God: He gives and forgives, and He surrendered His life for us.

On the cross, Jesus declared, ““It is finished!”” (see the Bible, John 19:30)

What a declaration! Everything that Jesus needed to accomplish on Earth, He accomplished…

• He carried your burdens, your pain, your sins, your suffering, your sickness.
• He restored to you the privilege of being in relationship with Him and His Father.
• He rekindled your hopes.

Here’s what King David declared: “He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.” (see Psalm 23:2)

The master of our rest is God. He knows how to lead us there where our souls and bodies can find rest.

Yes… rest, our true happiness, is being close to Jesus, the good Shepherd. True rest is letting God do the “doing.”
