What’s behind door number one?

Could it be that 2021 will become the greatest year of your life? Would you like to believe this? What would you say if I told you God has already planned your great comeback? 

He has planned your breakthrough decisions, plans, and strategies. The Bible promises, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV)  

God has plans for you. Do your plans match up well with His? Have you been called to save Nineveh, but you are getting swallowed up by a whale instead?

I’ll never forget some of the struggles I had finding His perfect will for my career. I had just finished my master’s degree in psychology and counseling. I had a wife and little baby to take care of but no real job prospects. Until one day the vice president of the school told me about a church in Vermont that wanted to start a counseling center. I fought back tears because he was recommending me for my dream job. But it was in the wrong country. I wanted to go back to Canada and start my counseling career close to our families.

Has God ever opened a door for you, but it wasn’t the one you wanted? That’s how I felt. God promises, “‘I will place on His shoulder the key to the house of David; what He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.’” (Isaiah 22:22, NIV) I’ve discovered that my New Year’s resolutions and plans for expansion have to be submitted to the Lord of lords. I want to live a surrendered life. 

I’m sure you have dreams and desires. Great, that’s the way it should be. But please don’t forget to remain flexible and submitted to the plans of God. I encourage you to dream and plan, then bring these things to your Heavenly Father and see if He will give you a big green light with favor and resources to spare. 

Because you are a miracle.
