The book of Proverbs is overflowing with excellent advice for our daily lives, whether it be about our relationships, lifestyles, or the choices we make…
Proverbs 15 shares great secrets with us about how to resolve the circumstances of anger we all encounter at some point every week. It says, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” (see the Bible, Proverbs 15:1)
With God’s help, you can respond to hurtful words with soft, gentle answers. Rather than letting anger get the upper hand, go to the Lord again and ask Him for strength and the words to say.
Another key is found in James 1:19-20, which says, “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
In taking these words to heart, not only will you grow in self-control and the management of your emotions (rather than letting them control you), but you will also be brought into a place of peace in your relationship with the person involved. Yes, God can use you to bring peace into situations where anger would have taken over!
Today and in the days to come, I challenge you…be slow to speak, and when you do, answer kindly and gently. As Toby Mac sings in this song, speak life!
May your mouth be filled with words that convey peace and love. Be an ambassador of God’s love…may your words bring healing today!

Thanks so much. Eric and Holly – I am fascinated at how many times I wake and listen to “A Miracle Everyday” and the message is Spot On! Just like it was written just for me and my situation that very day. Yet I know that can’t be……. that’s why I believe in the supernatural gifts of my God, thanks for your part in these gifts which are precious!
This message was on the nose. I said a prayer about this very thing this morning! My roommate and I are both getting older and with that comes forgetfulness inciting short fuses sometimes. We’ve been friends since’92. Janet has pulled my fat out of the fire so many times I can’t count. So my prayer was to slow down, think, and speak with gentle words. I love her and I know she loves me. There has even been talk about 2 rocking chairs on the back porch. God truly blessed me when He put her in my life. The Lord is so good to me! I go to your post before I look at anything else knowing God gave you something to touch my heart. So glad that I found you!
