You are a unique and precious person ⭐️

Do you ever entertain negative thoughts about yourself? If so, I’d like to remind you just how precious you are in God’s eyes with this short verse: “God paid a high price for you” (read the Bible, 1 Corinthians 7:23, NLT).

Do you really believe that God would have sacrificed His only Son for someone worthless? Quite the opposite! Jesus paid a very high price to save you: His precious blood poured out on the cross.

In his book You Are Special, Max Lucado presents an allegory: the Wemmicks, little wooden people, grade themselves by sticking stars on the brightest and dots on the less gifted. One of them, Punchinello, is small and full of dots. He’s depressed because no matter how hard he tries, he can’t meet others’ expectations. So he goes to find his maker, Eli, and discovers a great truth:

“Punchinello laughed. “Me, special? Why? I can’t walk fast. I can’t jump. My paint is peeling. Why do I matter to you?”
Eli looked at Punchinello, put his hands on those small wooden shoulders, and spoke very slowly. “Because you’re mine. That’s why you matter to me.”
Punchinello had never had anyone look at him like this — much less his maker. He didn’t know what to say.”

My friend…

• Have certain words been said against you in the past that demeaned and humiliated you?
• Have others labeled you?
• Have you sometimes been the target of mocking looks or scornful words?

Like one of my readers experienced: “The biggest problem for me would be believing in myself, not underestimating the abilities that the Lord has given me. As a child, I always heard the words “mediocre,” “average,” “could do better.” And I’m fighting against it.”

Perhaps you’re continually striving to do more but can’t ever meet others’ expectations…

It’s time to love yourself as God loves you. To drive away these negative and demeaning thoughts. To think of the value of Jesus’s blood shed on the cross so that you could be His! He created you, out of love, with extraordinary potential.

You have immeasurable value to Him…You are unique and magnificent!
