You can be free from the enemy

Today, co-writer Paul Marc Goulet wrote the message of “A Miracle Every Day”. I pray his message and audio will bless you today.

There is an interesting verse in the Bible that reveals a life-changing secret: “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15, NKJV)

As a young convert to a real and vibrant Christianity, I searched for Christian music. My brain had been fueled and filled with Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, Michael Jackson, Elvis, David Bowie, Boz Scaggs and Jimmy Buffet. I loved music, and my taste in music was quite eclectic. However, I often struggled with anger, depression and insecurity.

Have you ever filled your brain with bad lyrics and bad information?

I believe freedom can only become ours when we fill our minds with good thoughts, Bible verses and positive music. I’ve always heard it said, “garbage in and garbage out.”

One day, I discovered a song Bob Dylan included in his first album after his decision for Christ. These words rocked my mind: “Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord; But you’re gonna have to serve somebody.”

I’ll never forget the impact it had on me. I burned my albums that contained demonic symbolism, hatred, rebellion and violence. I recognized I could serve God, the devil, myself or someone else. I chose to serve God with my life, finances and talents.

Have you made this dramatic decision to make Jesus your Savior and Lord?

Many want a Savior, but most struggle with Christ as Lord, Master and King.

Ultimately, the Lordship of Christ in your life is critical. Will you make Him Lord today? Then you can say with confidence, “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” (I John 4:4, NKJV)

He’s either Lord of all or not Lord at all.

Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom,” (James 2:12, NIV)

You’re a miracle.

Paul Marc Goulet

Thank you, Paul Marc, for sharing this today!

I am so i intrigued by this message, I understand where he’s coming from yet I listen to a lot of music that would be considered demonic. Take all the music I’ve listened to you years and years and just burn them just to listen to Christian music would really be hard on me. I like a lot of old school Punk, new school Punk, Thrash, hardcore, New York hardcore, metal, death metal, s k a,Oi, so much that you wouldn’t even believe I’m a Christian! But it doesn’t bother me, does it bother you? Does this message from Paul Goulet make you think you should take all your albums and set them Ablaze on fire and never listen to them again? I don’t agree with this message, you might as well burn all, put your hand on the stove hold it there until you feel the pain. Is that living free?Christ died so we could live free not so we could send yes so we could live free and we were free we are free indeed. I’m not saying go ahead and go listen to Deicide or Cannibal Corpse or Cradle of Filth just because it pleases you or you want to turn your back against the Lord, I’m saying is I love the Lord with all my heart soul and mind no matter what music do you listen to what movies I watch he loves me none the less. Thank you and God bless

Cameron, I struggled with the idea that I could still ‘enjoy’ those things in my mind. After coming to the Lord in 1983, I kept secular music a part of my life for maybe 5 years. The biggest issue was every time it took the front seat in my mind it took me back to dwelling and doing those things more than serving and following the Lord. One day I realized I was really only fooling myself that they could be in my life as well as the Lord. The biggest scripture words that jumped out was “double minded” and I knew my direction and following had to focus on one or the other. All I can offer you is what was said to me. First, do a dedication (maybe again) to turning your life and ‘heart’ to Jesus. Put the music, videos, publications away for 30 days (honestly it took me 90+ days) and listen and look only at Christian involved issues. Read the Word of God through daily devotionals (MORE THAN ONE) the first hour, every day. Find strong believers to speak with and share the struggles with that will come from withdrawing/refraining. After the time frame if you still do not believe that following the Lord only is the right direction then Jesus will still love you and take what you will share, because yes he loves you no matter what. Keep in mind you cannot be all you can be serving Him.

In fact, God loves you despite your weakness. But I would like making you a question, Do you believe that Jesus did sacrificies on the cross? God wants our whole heart. Is greater your love for world’s things? My advice is do what makes happy to God, speaking with him and asking him. He gives you the only one answer. My blessings for you in the name of Jesus.

I love this message. As a follower of Christ we should be as he did. Jesus did not fill his spirit with things not beneficial to worshipping the father. If we accept Christ then The Holy Spirit dwells within us the Holy Spirit cannot dwell within us if we are feeling our spirit with demonic things.
there are many things I watch on TV or listen to and consider it not to be sin but the bottom line is,if it’s not of Christ it is of Satan we should not find enjoyment or entertainment in things that are contrary to Jesus, that alone is a clear indication that it’s something we need to walk away from, it is contrary to the one that we say we follow, trust and obey.
Many things are lawful but all are not beneficial in helping us Develop into mature Christians. Christians who will have the power of the Holy Spirit to perform the work we are called to do.
Also I just want to be like Christ and please my Lord. I don’t want to do my own thing just because I am not experiencing any current repercussions.

I’ve been listening and reading your newsletter for many weeks and I am amazed at this message. It’s a struggle to turn away from the music that we’ve been submerged to before becoming a believer of Christ. All I can say is that if there’s an option where the kind of music, whether that’s rocks, rap, hip hop, etc., somewhat gives the glory to god. Then listen to it! If it doesn’t and it just happens to affect your negatively, then you should consider not listening to it.
I love this community, and I love god. Keep making them!

I’ve heard it this way, “Jesus first, others second, and then yourself last =JOY! I found out the other day an acquaintance of someone I knew back in junior high when I was only 13, is now a superstar guitarist and rock star. So easy to get caught up into that world to see what that one is now like. But, I’m having to renew my mind with Bible scriptures to get back on track with the Lord! I choose JOY ?

This is the first time that I’ve commented, but felt led to do so. Allow me to give you summer background … I first became familiar with A Miracle Every Day when, during Pentecost, I read Pentecost: Connecting to the Holy Spirit- in The Bible App: YouVersion. After that I signed up for your blog, which I’ve enjoyed. When I got to today’s reading, it really spoke to me. After reading three more days, I felt that I had to write. I typically copy my “devotional readings” into my eJournal, edit it for easier reading and generally make comments in response to various points. I didn’t for this reading, but this comment serves as an introduction. See you tomorrow.
